MAIANA™ receives GNSS and AIS data on both channels and can be enabled as a class B transponder. You are legally responsible for enabling the transmission, for more details read the full description.
The base kit connects via a Cat5 ethernet cable (not included) to a breakout board (included) to integrate it into your projects. Optionally, you can buy one of the 3 available adapters (USB + UART, USB + RS422 or USB + CAN) to facilitate connection with any on-board computer or any NMEA 0183/2000 network.
IMPORTANT. The current developer of Maiana products has had to stop production for personal reasons. All pending orders will be shipped shortly. If you are interested in continuing production and need assistance with distribution, please contact us.
The main difference between MAIANA™ and all commercial AIS devices is that it is a self-contained unit, all AIS and GNSS circuits are located in the antenna housing
The transponder outputs just over 2 Watts (+33dBm). It has a verified range of over 20 nautical miles on a masthead and 10+ miles on a pushpit.
MAIANA™ is open-source, low consumption and is fully integrated into OpenPlotter.
